The Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), has organised a training course for Senegalese magistrates on the topic of “The application of international law in local courts” (7-9 July 2025). The initiative is part of the project “Rule of law and cooperation in Africa (2024-2025)”, coordinated by Lorenzo Gasbarri, researcher in international law at the Dirpolis Institute, which has seen the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies engaged for several years in training and capacity-building activities in numerous African countries.
Once again, the support offered by the Italian Embassy in Dakar was fundamental and contributed significantly to the success of the event.

Organised in partnership with the Centre de Formation Judiciaire de Dakar, the course aimed to strengthen the skills of Senegalese magistrates in the application of international law at the domestic level. The activity benefited from the contribution of leading Italian and African experts, including Dr Alberto Perduca, former public prosecutor with experience in international judicial cooperation, and Dr Federico Belli, judge at the Court of Turin.

Confirming the institutional importance of the initiative, the opening ceremony was attended by the Italian Ambassador to Senegal, Caterina Bertolini, and the Director of Criminal Affairs and Pardons, Mamadou Yakham Leye, representing the Senegalese Ministry of Justice.
